CUCA Inaugurates New Campus

The new campus of City University College of Ajman (CUCA), completed at an estimated cost of Dhs200 million, was on Wednesday inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman and Member of the UAE Supreme Council, in Al Tallah, Ajman.

Sheikh Humaid toured the campus’s facilities, including the state-of-the-art classrooms, computer and media labs, students’ centre, TV Studio, library and sporting facilities of the College, accompanied by Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi , Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department of Ajman and Chairman of the Board for R Education and Academic Development, (READ) and CUCA, Dr Ahmad Bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Cabinet Member and Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills, as well as other dignitaries from the public and private sectors.

The campus is part of the Dhs950 million READ Development initiative, which also includes City School. The first phase of the campus, comprising a land area of 1 million sq. ft., was completed in 2017 and opened doors to students in January for the Spring Semester. In a statement, Sheikh Rashid commended CUCA on its role as a higher education institution, that has always focused on excellence in academics and the use of modern technologies. Sheikh Rashid said, “CUCA, since its inception in 2012, has worked relentlessly to contribute towards the education sector. This is attributed to His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi’s vision for the education sector. The dynamic developments, especially in terms of Smart Learning, that we are witness to, reflect the Emirate’s long-term vision of being a higher education hub.”

In his welcome note, Abdul Aziz Al Jasmi, READ and CUCA Board Member said, “We look forward to the development of the College and its academic programmes—falling in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, which aims to make Ajman a centre for the development of the education sector. Since its establishment, the College has been interacting with the community of Ajman and the UAE community as a whole, through the introduction of various academic and training programmes, with the aim to serve the community and maintain its diversity in terms of attracting the students and faculty members of different nationalities and ethnicities, reflecting the image of the diverse and tolerant UAE society and hosting all people from different origins.”

Imran Khan, CEO of READ and President of CUCA,said “while conceptualising this new campus, we wanted it to embody the spirit of CUCA – modern and forward — thinking in its approach, a place that would inspire and stimulate career aspirations, and at the same time be practical and convenient for our student body.

“In the journey of accomplishing the building of the campus – right from the drawing board to its opening – we are fortunate to have the leadership of our chairman, Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuiami, and His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi’s continuous involvement, support and guidance, to achieve this milestone in record time.”

Khan said that there are currently over 2,000 students from all over the UAE studying in the campus and the number of faculties will soon be increased according to the needs.


He added, “CUCA is highly focused on the use of modern technologies not only in the areas of Smart Learning, but also for achieving sustainability for energy and water efficiency. In 2018, programmes in Health Sciences and Smart technologies remain our area of focus.”
