Dubai International Academic City, BMI Media Announce UAE International Education Week Leading educational event management company BMI Media has launched its Middle East headquarters at DIAC Education Week will be held in Dubai in October 2017, bringing opportunities for connections in all-encompassing environment As part of a global set of initiatives to attract leading international universities to the UAE, Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) travelled to Los Angeles this week, to exhibit at the NAFSA Annual Conference and Exhibition. NAFSA, one of the largest global events within the international education circuit, attracts more than 9,000 international educators each year, from over 100 countries, who gather to discuss emerging trends in student mobility and opportunities for sustainable and long-term partnerships. At this event, BMI Media, the world’s leading education event’s organiser announced its partnership with DIAC, launching its Middle East regional headquarters at the DIAC campus. With over 30 years of experience, BMI Media’s affiliation to over 20,000 educational and vocational institutions, including its network of over 500,000 students, is key in supporting the region’s objectives of attracting high-quality students and institutions from all over the world. The highlight of this partnership was the launch of BMI and DIAC’s new platform. Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, BMI and DIAC unveiled the annual “UAE International Education Week”, aimed at attracting transnational students to the UAE. UAE International Education Week, which will take place from 18 to 23 October 2017, is a week-long series of events that will direct student and university leads to Dubai universities and firm up Dubai’s representation as a global education hub. Encompassing all aspects of the international education community, the event is one of the most important weeks of the UAE 2017 education calendar. Mohammad Abdullah, Managing Director of Dubai International Academic City and Dubai Knowledge Park, said: “As we celebrate ten years of excellence, we are pleased to have BMI launch its regional headquarters within our vibrant and diverse community of students and international higher education institutions."
"We are also delighted to partner with BMI later this year as they launch UAE International Education Week, creating an excellent platform for development and collaboration, continuing to attract students to our leading global education hub.”
Speaking of its expansion to the Middle East, Samir Zaveri, President and CEO of BMI, stated: “BMI Media was looking to grow its business to the Middle East, and Dubai International Academic City was the obvious choice for us to set up our head office. As a leading international education hub, Dubai International Academic City is already home to 26 leading universities, most of which are our clients. We are able to leverage our connections and expertise with this growing community of some 25,000 students as we align with both DIAC and the UAE in our vision to attract more transnational students to the region.” He added, “BMI Media is renowned for organising the world’s leading education events and our events in the region have been very successful due to the tremendous response we have received from students, parents, local education institutions and the media. We hope that by increasing the number of events we offer annually in the region, educational institutions from across the world can share their knowledge and expertise to meet the growing demands of the UAE’s education sector.” The UAE International Education Week will also include a series of workshops, fairs and private meetings such as the Gulf International Schools Workshop, UAE Global Educations Fairs and the BMI Gulf Scholarship Summit. Taking place in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, these events, which will be held in conjunction will forge valuable connections within the international education world, including scholarship providers, high school representatives and other high-ranking officials. As Dubai’s transnational student population continues to grow substantially, BMI Media’s expansion to Dubai is vital in ensuring DIAC continues to attract international universities offering degree programmes suitable to the demands of the market, while promoting Dubai as an international education hub. Dubai’s accessibility, both geographically and financially is key features for students who want to study abroad. The cost of living compared to major cities like London, Singapore and New York, its safety, and ease of obtaining visas, are main considerations for students who want quality education in a cosmopolitan city, interacting with people from diverse nationalities, cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. DIAC’s vibrant community of universities also offers students a large selection of lifestyle community facilities, including numerous study, sporting and entertainment options, all designed to foster a sense of community and ease student transition from abroad.
