AUS launches first PhD in Engineering

Exclusive interview with Dr. Bjorn Kjerfve, Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), and Richard Schoephoerster (Dean of the school of Engineering at AUS), regarding the new Engineering PhD to be offered next Fall.

Dr Bjorn Kjerfve stated "I'm very happy to announce that in Fall the American University of Sharjah will be offering its first PhD program with a class in Tech and Engineering Systems Management, this is part of a greater effort to transform AUS from a teaching centric and a very good liberal arts college to a comprehensive research university." He added that AUS is also planning to follow with a PhD in Business Administration in Spring 2019.

There are also four other PhD programs following shortly after the two mentioned above, this is all part of the need of the country to base an economy on knowledge, scientific research and innovation. The chancellor emphasized on how AUS is committed to become the number one university in the Arab world in both research and teaching within 5 years.
